Inaugural 2005

As many of you know, I have been a hard core Bush supporter since he was Governor of Texas (I actually got to meet him when he was governor during a trip to Austin to participate in a "Town Hall Meeting" during the 1996 Election season.)  So, I was thrilled when I was invited to his Inauguration and the Stars and Stripes Inaugural Ball in January 2005.  Here are some photos from the trip.

The night before President Bush's second inauguration we were invited to "The Celebration of Freedom" at the Ellipse in front of the White House.  It was really cool.  Besides the President it featured many celebrities including several of the Apollo astronauts.
Our tickets for the inauguration itself were for the West Capitol Lawn.  This is a wide angle shot I took of the capitol just prior to the beginning of the ceremony.
Here, President Bush takes the oath of office.
On the way out, we found someone to take our picture.  You can see remnants of snow (and a lot of mud) on the ground.  Before the event there was a nice coating of snow on the ground - and it was quite cold.
After the ceremony we were invited to our Congressmen's office for a reception.  Here we are with Congressmen Franks in the hallway outside his office.
After lunch it was time to head back to the hotel and change into formal attire for the Inaugural Ball.  We were invited to the Stars and Stripes Ball (the largest of the official Inaugural Balls).  Here President Bush speaks at the ball before dancing with the First Lady.
Of course, Vice President Cheney and his wife made their appearance at the ball as well.
Here is our semi-official picture from the ball (The official portraits were really expensive, so we had a nice couple snap our picture in return for taking theirs).
The next day we hit the Capitol Mall and the Smithsonian museums.  While there, we got to meet Florida Governor Jeb Bush.  Here we are with the Governor in the mall near the Air and Space Museum.  You can tell by the attire (and my red cheeks) that it was cold and windy that day.

Many of these photographs and other great President George W. Bush photos are available from www.mach1collectibles.com.
